The TCA9548A I2C Multiplexer Module allows you to connect and control multiple I2C devices that share the same address on a single microcontroller.

Many I2C sensors and modules come with fixed I2C addresses, which makes it impossible to connect multiple identical devices on the same bus. The TCA9548A solves this problem by acting as an I2C switch, allowing your microcontroller to communicate with up to 8 independent I2C channels.

By selecting the desired channel through the I2C bus, the multiplexer connects the main controller to one of the downstream buses. This makes it easy to use multiple identical sensors such as temperature sensors, OLED displays, or ADC modules in the same project without address conflicts.

The module communicates using the standard I2C interface, making it compatible with popular platforms such as Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers used in robotics, IoT, and STEM education projects.

Highlights:

  • I2C Address Conflict Solution: Allows multiple devices with the same I2C address to be used in one system.
  • 8 Independent I2C Channels: Supports up to 8 separate I2C buses selectable via software.
  • Standard I2C Interface: Simple integration with Arduino, ESP, Raspberry Pi, and other controllers.
  • Multiple Multiplexers Supported: Up to 8 TCA9548A modules can be used together for expanding I2C networks.
  • Compact Module Design: Small PCB board for easy integration in electronics projects.

Specifications:

  • Operating Voltage: 1.6-5.5V.
  • Communication Protocol: I2C.
  • Multiplexer Channels: 8 independent I2C channels.
  • Default I2C Address: 0x70 (configurable via address pins).
  • Maximum Devices per Bus: Up to 8 channels per module.
