No prior knowledge is required except basic computer usage 🙂. The workshop is intended for anyone that has no knowledge of 3D design and printing. Although the classroom has computers for each participant, you are encouraged to bring laptops with you in order to get familiar with the software on your own laptop ( the usage of a mouse is greatly recommended ) 👌

During the workshop, you will be introduced to a free easy-to-use online software, named Tinkercad. Through Tinkercad you will learn the basics of 3D design by creating a real 3D model. After creating the model, you will learn about 3D printing and the process of tuning the 3D printer and printing the model you designed.

The workshop is designed to be a 4-hour course that includes the following 🧐:

Part 1 - 3D Design ( 2 hours ) 📐:

1. Introduction to the world of 3D design
2. 2D vs 3D
3. Basics of the Tinkercad interface
4. Import shapes to the workspace
5. Sizes and size manipulation
6. Orthographic vs perspective view
7. Filled vs hollow object
8. Combining objects
9. Using the ruler
10. Arrangement of objects
11. 3D design of a real model, step by step

Part 2 - 3D Printing  ( 2 hours )🔨:

1. Introduction to the world of 3D printing
2. What is a 3D printer
3. Usage and types of 3D printers
4. How 3D printing works
5. Online 3D model libraries
6. Types of filaments
7. Setting up a 3D printer to print
8. Layer height
9. Layer infill
10. Brim
11. Support
12. Print the 3D object we designed in part 1!
